  1. Catching the sallie properly:
    1. Too soon (rushing) → bell rings down.
    2. Too high → bell doesn't come up to balance point, rings too soon.
    3. Too low → bell bounces back, rings too soon.
  2. Pull in the plane the vertical plane from you to the line of the rope close to your nose, vertically; don't throw the rope outward.
  3. Strive for continuous motion.
  4. When ringing tenor behind, out of six (doubles with tenor behind): pull when you hear (3rd or) 4th bell seems to work out about right.
  5. Ropesight practice:
    1. watch 2 ringers and note who pulls first, until this is dead easy, then
    2. watch 3 ringers and note who pulls first, ditto, then
    3. watch 4 ringers and note who pulls first, ditto, then
    4. etc.
