  1. Smooth motion.
    1. R hand down with L to catch at the end of the backstroke.
    2. Hands rise a bit before the tail pulls them up.
    3. Gentle sallie catch with hands rising.
  2. Turn the bell on the backstroke: slow its rise and be pulling at the point of inflection (the top of its rise).
  3. Follow through:
    1. On the backstroke — straight down, both hands.
    2. On the handstroke (to pick up the tail with the R hand).
